Daily Trust had earlier reported how police officers took over the Gani Fawehinmi Park, venue of the protest, in a bid to prevent people from gathering.

But protesters later defied the police presence and attempted to converge there but they were forcefully dispersed with teargas canisters.

Elsewhere across the state, Daily Trust observed heavy police presence in many parts of Ikeja and its environs.

Also, traffic situation in the metropolis is light around as many people stayed home over the planned protest.
